2021 All-Inclusive Travel Guide Yucatan Peninsula
When I travel somewhere to pursue a documentary, I learn a lot about the culture, food, and famous places. So I decided to start writing “Guides” on the countries I visit.
Planning a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula? Tulum? Valladolid? Bacalar? Holbox? This is a piece of an all-inclusive travel guide to help you plan the trip of your dreams. Want the complete guide? Become a TracingThought Patron for $10 and receive this guide and because you will be a TT Patron, all subsequent guides I post afterward. Patreon funds my documentaries directly.

Transportation
You may have read discouraging online reviews about renting cars in Mexico.
Well...
Yes, there are risks you take, but it is not difficult to get one. Be sure to check your ego at the door and recognize your driving skills and ability. Mexico has driving rules of course, but, things aren’t always as cut and dry as in the states. Keep your eyes peeled, look both ways, and remember, slow and steady wins the race :) My advice, don’t be discouraged about renting a car, become the master of your own transportation!
EasyWay Car Rental
https://easywayrentacar.com/vehicles
Of course, you can go with Enterprise, Hertz, or another BigWiz company, but if you want to support the locals, have a smaller safety deposit, and support a family-owned business- EasyWay is your company.
They pick you up at the airport with a sign with your name on it
Drive you 2 minutes away (to their offices) for free with a private taxi
**Cheapest prices**
WhatsApp communication during your entire rental
Support the locals!!!!
If you do choose to rent a car in Mexico, be sure to keep 300 to 500 pesos on hand for safety reasons, and always lock your doors. Be sure to keep nothing of value inside your car, ever, and double-check where you are parking to avoid tickets. Ultimately, renting a car allows you the freedom and mobility to see all that Mexico has to offer.

COVID Testing
Oh, the dreaded COVID test. Unless you are vaccinated!-
If you’re traveling during a global pandemic, it is important to act proactively and test upon arrival. A PCR test or antigen test will cost anywhere from $30 to $75 depending on where you go.
Thankfully, they’re not hard to find, so my advice is to book a test upon arrival just to make sure you haven’t been exposed during travel.
Ask a local; find one on the way to your hotel or Airbnb; do whatever makes the most sense for you! If you choose to travel to surrounding countries like Belize or Guatemala, a Negative COVID test will be necessary as well as traveling back to the U.S. A tried and true location that I personally got tested at was Laclisca Labs.
Local Mexican Craft Beers
Spoiler alert! I’m not talking about your basic Dos Equis, Corona, Tecate, or Modelo that you can find at a local American grocery store. I LOVE BEER—so of course, I had to try a few local brews.
I went to the local grocery store and bought five beers: Tulum Lager, Cucapo Obscura Brown Ale, Cerveza Bocanegra, Finisimo, Söhnfeld. Get my take on which beer I’d take home to mama, and which beer I highly advise you don’t drink at all (hint: stomach pains for days).
